Sr Systems Engineer - Integration and Test


Moog is looking for a Sr Integration and Test Systems Engineer for our growing Systems Engineering department, working on next generation aircraft controls for military and commercial aircraft.  We are expanding our staff as we grow our technology, mission areas, and market share.  In this role, you will use your expertise in the integration and test of real time high performance control systems.  This position is located in East Aurora NY.

In this role, you will bring your demonstrated experience in solving complex problems in a collaborative team environment, preferably in an aerospace context.  The successful candidate will be interested in big picture thinking and working in a multi-disciplinary environment to resolve technically-challenging problems.


As an Integration and Test Systems Engineer, you will…


  • Develop verification plans and verification cross reference matrices (VCRM’s) for high performance real-time control systems.
  • Develop test plans and procedures in support of requirements verification and system qualification.
  • Drive successful real-time system model integration, in order to support a variety of test environments at both system and unit level. 
  • Create test scripts to support automated testing of systems. 
  • Effectively communicate these internal design requirements to the other members of the design/project team
  • Create concise reports that document test results, requirement verification and limitations and constraints.
  • Support the identification and definition of Verification and Validation approaches for the system or subsystem
  • Support system- and subsystem-level integration and test, including any anomaly investigations
  • Operate as a contributing or lead member of in a team of creative, independent individuals
  • Coordinate/facilitate design product discussions across other development teams and Moog sites
  • Contribute as a key technical member on a team of creative, independent individuals
  • Travel 10-25%:  to other Moog sites and customer sites (primarily US based)

Minimum Qualifications to be considered… 

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM discipline (Engineering, Math, Science, Technology)
  • 7+ years of professional experience in the field of Engineering (5+ years with Master’s Degree; 3+ years with PhD)
  • Experience with integration and test of real time control systems
  • Proficiency in modeling tools, such as Matlab and Simulink
  • Experience with real time test environments such as dSPACE and/or National Instruments
  • Due to federal contract obligations, must be a US Citizen
  • DoD Secret clearance or the ability to acquire a clearance


Preferred Qualifications Include… 

  • Strong troubleshooting skills in real-time test environment
  • Interface/Bus Knowledge (implementation and integration) 1553,1394, RS-422/485, I2C, RS232, TCP/IP, UDP, LVDS, Pxi, cPCI, VME,VPX
  • Programming skills in Python and C/C++
  • Test experience with electric/hydraulic driven systems.
  • Real- time hardware in the loop test-bed/rig design, both hardware and software
  • Familiarity with Fault Management design and architecture development
  • Knowledge in classical control system design (aircraft flight control systems a plus)
  • Demonstrated technical leadership experience
  • Proven competencies in Integration and Test, Verification and Validation Methods and Requirements Management.
  • Experience working with safety-critical systems (including hardware and software)
  • Experience in the aerospace industry
  • Good verbal and written skills required
