Moog is looking for a Sr. Regional Safety Engineer to provide expert guidance to sites on Safety legal obligations and EHS performance in the western U.S.   The base location of this position is flexible within our plants in Chatsworth, CA; Torrance, CA; Salt Lake City, UT; or Tempe, AZ.


As the Sr. Safety Regional Engineer you will organize and deliver specialty certification trainings; approve of chemical uses, waste disposal sites, technical procedures; measure EHS performance and assist with the building of regional EHS communication & execution resources to further sites’ EHS programs.  You will collaborate with not only site EHS personnel, but across global regional EHS staff levels as well.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Works with Site EHS personal to evaluate Site EHS performance, EHS on site skill needs and opportunities for improvement within site practices. Provides suggestions to Regional Leadership & Site Leadership for consideration.
  • Partners with Site EHS staff to custom tailor existing resources for the site implementation phases of the EHS management system.  This includes technical reviews of their procedures, training, contractor programs and helping build project plans with associated communication components the site will need.
  • Provides technical expertise on common regulatory requirements when Sites are making changes to their equipment, layouts, and procedures.
  • Teaches Sites regulatory changes within the region and provides supporting technical information appropriate to their knowledge level for Site responses to government agency notices and other internal & external party audits. 
  • Develops/helps implement with Regional EHS Manager resources (training events, lessons learned, mind maps and other communication tools) which will help reduce implementation burden across multiple sites in a Country or Region.
  • Reviews and assesses governmental regulatory change notices to helps ensure the Regions’ EHS team is advising sites on the most up to date requirements and maintaining accurate regulation performance measuring tools.
  • Helps Regional Management identify and implement cost saving opportunities that benefit multiple sites across the Region, as well as assisting in evaluating Site EHS budgetary needs, skills gaps and Regional communications/ responsibilities.
  • Helps select, approve and manage 3rd party expert resources; such as consultants, laboratories, disposal sites that sites need to use in support of their EHS programs.
  • 20% travel to assigned regional sites – including CA (Chatsworth, Torrance, Santa Barbara, Mountain View), UT (Salt Lake City), CO and AZ (Tempe). 

At a minimum, you’ll need to meet these qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in EHS, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience implementing and managing EHS compliance programs
  • Due to federal contract obligations, must be a US citizen or US Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder)

Preferred Qualifications Include: 

  • Safety compliance experience in a Manufacturing environment strongly preferred
  • Prefer that the EHS experience is focused on the implementation and management of Safety compliance programs
  • Competency in EHS principles associated with international standards such as ISO management and audit systems (OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001)
  • Proven capabilities and sufficient experience with remediation technologies
  • Proven experience in EHS engineering control design and selection, working with government agencies, and international environmental related regulations.
  • Experience auditing disposal sites such as cement kilns, incinerators, fuels blending, reclamation and landfills.
  • Experience with project plans and project management
  • Knowledge of Lean fundamentals
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio and Project; ability to quickly learn new platforms
  • Experience with the use of emergency response and cleanup equipment
  • CSP certification is a plus
