As a Sr. Program Manager in Moog’s Space and Defense Group you can expect to:

   

Coordinate and manage all activities and is responsible for meeting all contractual obligations on assigned programs. You will serve as the primary communication link between the customer and Moog.   You will advise management and the customer of current status and potential problem areas on a regular basis and takes appropriate corrective actions as required.  The Senior Program Manager typically has responsibility for several (1‑6) programs of major impact to the division. These may be new and/or ongoing programs. As a general rule, the total value of these programs will typically be valued at between $5‑30, however, because of technical complexity or customer approach, the dollar value may not fully represent the difficulty of the work involved.  The Senior Program Manager does not have direct reports but will coordinate the activities of a program staff totaling approximately 5‑20 people. On occasion, the Senior Program Manager may train Associate Program Managers.

 
Here’s what you’ll work on day-to-day:
  • Develop program plans and schedules to ensure proper coordination between all program elements. Monitor the status of cost, schedule and task completion to ensure compliance with program plans.
  •  Coordinate with functional management to ensure the assignment of adequate program resources.
  • Conduct effective day‑to‑day communications with the customer to resolve outstanding issues in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate and manage all program activities to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate and manage the preparation of presentation materials for internal and customer meetings and reviews. Manage the conduct of such meetings and reviews.
  • Prepare regular status reports, for management and the customer, which provide visibility for program issues and risks.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and change orders, and support fact-­finding and negotiations to ensure completeness from a program management viewpoint.
  • Assist the Marketing organization in planning and developing new programs and follow‑on orders for existing programs.
 Basic Qualifications:
 

To successfully perform the program management function; in addition to a Bachelors’ Degree; you must have and exercise the following skills and knowledge:

  • Managed at least one hardware development program from concept through to development in an aerospace environment.
  • Listening and people handling skills
  • Negotiating skills to facilitate agreement on technical and contractual matters
  • Verbal and written communication skills for the preparation and presentation of materials to internal groups and to the customer
  • Product knowledge
  • Utilization of the scheduling, status reporting and cost reporting systems
  • Understanding of contractual terms, conditions and requirements
