As a Senior Motor Design Engineer, in our Aircraft Group (AG), you’ll provide design expertise and leadership on new product specification, development, documentation, production planning, tooling and sales, particularly in the field of electric motors.


At Moog, our Senior Motor Design Engineers independently evaluate, select and apply engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using considerable experience and judgment in the decision making process. In this role, you’ll organize and lead design reviews throughout the development cycle; this includes technical design, development testing, prototype construction and testing, process and A&T procedures, material review, failure analysis, progress reporting, design and program reviews, vendor and customer visits, and proposal preparation. Throughout this process, you’ll interface with customers, vendors, and personnel from various departments within Moog.

 Here’s what you’ll work on:
  • Develop new processes and/or products using theoretical concepts
  • Apply technical expertise, commensurate with formal training and job experience, in the design and development of products and processes
  • Logical and practical application of new and existing technology, extensive analysis and computer simulation studies
  • Review new customer specifications and prepare proposal and cost information to permit sound cost proposals
  • Conduct feasibility studies to determine a basis for sound design decisions
  • Make recommendations on proposed projects as to their technical merit and feasibility
  • Ensure that assigned projects meet the required production release dates and follow up as required to support production during the manufacturing phase
  • Direct the design team effectively to achieve high quality and cost effective output
  • Initiate design reviews with other functional groups to insure that the product/project meets overall requirements
  • Prepare details necessary to plan, schedule and cost out a product or project
  • Establish and maintain a personal self-improvement program to keep abreast of advances in applicable methods, techniques or innovations
  • Communicate effectively and cooperate with internal support groups, design teams, customers and vendors to achieve the objectives
  • Assist in the training of more junior engineers through sharing of design and analysis methodologies and offering advice when required.

 At a minimum, you will need to meet these qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in  Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; Master’s preferred
  • Minimum 10 years’ of relevant experience
