Moog is looking for a Software Engineer with strong Python experience to be part of the team in our engineering test lab.  If you like working in a hands-on environment where you can see and interact with moving parts and components, we encourage you to apply.  This position is located at our aerospace plant in Torrance, CA.

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of software for Test Stands that test flight-critical actuation systems. This includes designing, coding, debugging, and documenting software.  You will spend time in our development test lab where you will observe and interact with moving parts and components for electromechanical test stand equipment.

 

Here's what you’ll be working on…

  • Develop software for flight actuation system test stands
  • Work independently and as part of a team of Software Engineers to troubleshoot test stand issues. 
  • Document and update software deployed on automated test stands.
  • Interface with the end user to ascertain the needs and converge on an optimal solution that is cost efficient.
  • Work with project engineers, engineering drafters, and test technicians addressing changing design requirements.
 

Minimum qualifications to be considered… 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 4+ years of programming experience with Python
  • Due to federal contract obligations, must be a US citizen or US Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder)
 

Preferred Qualifications Include… 

  • Prefer that the Bachelor’s Degree is Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical/math discipline
  • Work experience in a Test/ Engineering Lab; or other hands-on mechanical experience
  • Prefer 5+ years of Python programming experience
  • Experience with automated Test Stands
  • Experience with dSpace and/or Labview ecosystems
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Experience with verification and documentation of software deployed on automated test stands
  • Experience with commercially available test software products and shell scripting.
