192796 Requisition #

Moog Aircraft Group is the world-wide leader of advanced flight controls and actuation for commercial and military aircraft.  We are positioned on virtually every aircraft flying today, supplying highly reliable systems that are supportable and add significant value for our customers.

Job Summary:

The Site Quality Manager has the authority and accountability to manage the successful performance of the Quality function at the site.  The incumbent will represent Moog in customer interactions related to major quality issues and, through their leadership and example, cultivates in all site employees Moog’s commitment to quality excellence. The Site Quality Manager and their colleagues on the Site Leadership Team, operating under a Shared Leadership model, are collectively responsible for the general management of the site.

  • The incumbent has largely independent authority and accountability to manage the performance of the Quality function at the site to ensure the timely, cost-effective, and quality-focused support of its Business Units (including budget management, personnel selection/training/development, and performance management).
  • Support the development and lead the execution of the Aircraft Group strategic vision for the site Quality function that aligns with the long-term objectives of the Site and enhances Moog’s reputation for quality excellence.  Inherent to this accountability is the continual evaluation and improvement of quality processes executed by the site.
  • Directly manage a staff of 4-6 (consisting of 3-5 Business Unit Quality Managers and the Quality Control Manager) to ensure that quality staffing, skills, and processes efficiently support the objectives of the Business Units served by the site.
  • Review and approve budget submittals and subordinate wage/promotion recommendations from this staff, working with them to ensure that the distribution between Business Units is equitable and that the total is supportive of Quality function and Site objectives.
  • Coordinate the activities of the Quality Managers to ensure that as quality processes are tailored to satisfy the specific requirements of each Business Unit, an appropriate level of consistency across the Business Units is maintained.
  • Represent Moog in a professional, trustworthy manner in the resolution of significant product quality issues.  This requires the pro-active cultivation of professional relationships with customers, suppliers, and business partners to establish a foundation of trust.
  • Through strong, steady leadership, nurture in all site employees the behaviors that support the Moog culture and our commitment to product integrity.
  • As a member of the Site Leadership Team operating under the Shared Leadership model, work cooperatively with the Site General Manager and the other functional managers to ensure that the site meets the needs of the Business Units and customers it supports.
  • As a member of the Group Quality Leadership Team, engage with the Quality Managers of other Group sites to ensure awareness of process similarities/differences, share lessons-learned, and promote best practices.
  • Ensure that appropriate quality processes exist, are well-understood, and are being effectively executed by site personnel.  Manage the auditing of these processes to verify their utilization and validate their effectiveness.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, with an advanced technical degree and/or MBA highly preferred.
  • At least ten (10) years of relevant technical experience is required, with at least four of those years in a supervisory or managerial position.
