Sr Quality Engineer

Summary:

 

Responsible for ensuring products assembled meet the required Quality standards by minimizing added costs and maximizing customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to procedures and processes and proactively identifies quality issues and recommends resolutions to ensure zero impact to the customer.

  • Supports new product introductions to ensure the robustness of product builds.

  • Works in a team environment to develop and implement best practices that emphasize defect prevention, reduction in variation and waste and provides for continuous improvements in meeting all customer requirements.

  • Manages the customer specific requirements and offers technical support for multiple highly complex major projects. Requires innovative original solutions where results are key to successful project completion.

  • Works mostly independently with minimal supervision and work is reviewed at project milestones and/or on completion by Senior Management.

  • Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component.

  • Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.

  • Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.

  • Reviews all purchased products or components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept the product and procure future purchases from the vendor.

  • Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.

  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.

  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.

  • Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities.

  • Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.

  • Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.

 

Return Materials Responsibilities:

 

  • Support organization in determining the process for RMAs (Return Materials Authorization) and that this process is being adhered to

  • Ensure analysis are completed in a timely manner for products returned from customers by ensuring the proper standard tests and inspections are done to determine root cause

  • Offer feedback to customers and organization on issues

  • Work with RMA coordinator in ensuring timely disposition of returned manufactured products

  • Ensure proper traceability and repair are identified for returned products

 

 

Education and/or Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 3 years of relevant experience or an Associate’s Degree and ten years of qualified senior level Quality Engineering experience.

  • Mechanical or Electrical engineering background is a plus
