Senior Electrical Design Engineer

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer in Moog’s Aircraft Group, you will develop complex electrohydraulic, electromechanical, and electropneumatic components and systems that will become the new products of Moog, Inc. You will plan and conduct efforts requiring authoritative judgment in the evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard and nonstandard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Lastly, you’ll independently devises new approaches for the problems encountered and plans and coordinates the work of others on major engineering projects.

Here’s what you’ll work on:

  • Electronic box architect for flight control computers and/or motor control electronics used in military and commercial aviation
  • Contribute to proposals for new aircraft platforms in accordance with customer requirements – responsible for technical concept generation and requirement compliance
  • Mature system architecture/requirements alongside systems engineering team and other engineering disciplines
  • Develop/maintain requirements for electronics box
  • Facilitate design of electronics boxes to cost, reliability and schedule targets
  • Facilitate design for manufacturing
  • Lead team of engineers (mechanical, SW, digital, analog, power, etc.) in development/design of the electronics boxes
  • Design of electronics box hardware, software, firmware, algorithms, power devices, feedback circuits
  • Design boxes to meet EMI requirements of application
  • Design of high power inverters and gate drives to control motors
  • Design of control electronics consisting of microprocessors and FPGAs
  • Oversee and review electrical design analyses – hand calculations (first order) and dynamic simulations (matlab, Simulink, pSpice, etc.)
  • Technical POC for customer, program and vendors
  • Create requirements for electronics box test equipment
  • Create development/qualification electronics box test procedures
  • Mentor and coach other engineers within the electronics department

Here's what you'll need to be considered for this exciting opportunity: 

  • Minimum BS in Engineering
  • Extensive experience creating mechanical designs of electrohydraulic, electromechanical and/or electropneumatic servomechanisms or their control electronics
