 As a Senior Buyer in Moog’s Space and Defense Group you can expect to:

The Senior Buyer is responsible for the identification of the source of supply that will meet Moog’s requirements for best value, on time delivery, and high quality.  We make a mix of development and low rate initial production defense products where the time to buy is short and the technical data is young and dynamic.  While in that environment, the processes used to accomplish this task must be compliant with the documented systems and procedures, often including USG flow downs.


You will be expected to complete the procurement process in a timely fashion.  This requires knowledge of the supply base, current pricing and market conditions.  You should expect to have a number of these activities happening simultaneously.  This workload will require effective time management.


Here’s what you’ll work on:


The Senior Buyer will be responsible for supporting non-traditional development program opportunities.  To support these activities this role will successfully execute the following unique activities: 

  • Develop the supply chain for quick turn machined, formed, processes and painted, piece parts & assemblies
  • Coordinate approvals of specialized outside suppliers.
  • Support development of unique internal processes.
  • Supplier development that involves new supplier evaluation, existing supplier management, and resolving sourcing issues.    
  • Develop a knowledge for the commodities that covers the market pricing, market make up, trends in the market, and alternative markets or technologies.
  • Manage open contracts or orders to maintain the needed delivery of goods and services.
  • Provide pricing information that will be used to support cost proposals being made to Moog customers. 
    • Bachelor’s degree (vocational, professional, or advanced) is highly preferred
    • 3 - 5 years of progressive experience in the field of Supply Chain Management
    • Proven general capabilities in procurement practices.
    • Proven specific capabilities in understanding and communicating the technical aspects of the goods and services procured.
    • Desirable qualifications would include: Defense manufacturing experience, Certification in Purchasing, Production and Inventory Control, Supply Chain Management, Master’s Degree in Business, Engineering
    • Due to U.S. Government and Military contracts, candidates must be either a U.S. Citizen.
