Quality Specialist -Source Inspection

Summary of the Job
The primary function of this job is to carry out Source inspection and provide inspection results. This activity is primarily related to the final inspection process per the inspection plans at the identified vendor location.
The parts may vary from simple components to complex manifolds by nature.

Main responsibilities:
- Perform a wide variety of final mechanical / visual inspections on purchased parts and/or assemblies,these inspections involve usage of simple to complex setups on surface plates using height gauges, gage blocks, sine-plates, and indicators. Review of AS9102 FAI (first article inspection) reports and SPC
(statistical process control) results.
- On request, provide inputs to Supplier Quality Engineering /Supplier Development Engineers to support the establishment of inspection plans or inspection techniques. Use basic statistical process control techniques
in this process on need basis.
- Proactively work with Suppliers to anticipate inspection issues that may arise and work out adequate steps to cover inspection equipments, techniques and sample sizes.
- Carry out quality audits when requested and review implemented corrective actions by suppliers.


Technical Diploma in the field of Metrology, Mechanical Engineering, Quality or
Manufacturing Engineering or Proficiency Certificate from Industrial Training Institute.

Work experience: 
Two to three in the case of Diploma and three to Five years in the case of Proficiency certificate. General hands on experience in using a wide variety of precision measuring instruments to verify compliance on dimensions, angles, radii, contours, holes, surface finishes, concentricity, hardness, material
and plating in inches. A background in quality assurance is advantageous in automotive or aerospace.

Proven capabilities in these key behavioral competencies: 
Communication, Building strategic working relationships, Adaptability, Managing work.

Other skills, experiences or highly desirable qualifications: 
Strong background in manual mechanical inspection. 
CMM experience preferred but not mandatory. 
Understanding of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) per ASTM standards is essential for this job. 
Ability to work with “Inch” drawings as well as metric.
