Moog Space and Defense Group in East Aurora is looking for a Program Director to support the Space Sector’s management of hypersonics programs.  This is a full time position located in East Aurora reporting to the Site Director for Program Management and Contracts.  The Program Director will have a strong dotted line reporting alignment to Space Sector management.


The US Gov’t has prioritized hypersonics weapons development.  Moog is currently executing multiple development programs in support of this initiative.  These programs are complex, overlap, contain aggressive schedules, require significant high level customer and internal communications, and rely on successful supply chain performance.

Here’s what you’ll be working on day to day: 

Program Director is responsible for overall program performance across several Space Sector programs supporting hypersonics.  This role will include the following duties:

  • Effectively interact as the main representative to Moog’s customers and internal Group/Site Leadership.  
  • Collaborate with the Space Sector on program strategy and ensure alignment with program teams.
  • Maintain close engagement and alignment with Moog’s Defense Sector hypersonic program execution.
  • Monitor program performance to cost, schedule, technical, and quality requirements. Escalate issue early and often as required to ensure corrective action plans can be implemented to minimize potential impacts.
  • Provide overall guidance to internal program teams and assist teams in priority and decision making activity.
  • Communicate internally at Moog any resource needs, program risks, and help needed to support successful program execution. 
  • Maintain a regular cadence of communication with the program teams in order to create alignment, engagement and trust. Be highly visible to the program teams, provide coaching, information, ideas, feedback and encouragement.  Solicit ideas from the people doing the work.
  • Actively participate in proposal efforts across programs to ensure customer and Moog interests are being met.
  • Supervise Program Managers working the hypersonics programs.  This will include coaching and mentoring, talent development, and career development. 
 Here’s the skills we need you to bring: 
  • Business or Engineering degree – Advanced degree highly preferred but not required.
  • 10 years of combined Program Management or Engineering experience with a minimum of 5 years in a management role are required.
  • Possession of TS/SCI Security Clearance desired
  • Ability to prioritize, solve complex problems, and make difficult decisions in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate an advocacy for continuous improvement.
  • Process-oriented individual who utilizes data to drive performance improvement.
  • Ability to analyze financial performance, schedule performance and risk.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, establish key relationships, and establish trust both internally and externally. 
  • Ability to utilize collaborative facilitative leadership skills to construct and communicate strategic objectives and provide leadership through indirect influence.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications including Excel, Project, Word, PowerPoint, and VISIO.
  • Possess situational awareness skills and emotional intelligence. 
  • Be a role model of Moog values. 
  • Due to our government contracts, US Citizenship is required.
