We are looking for an Optical Design Engineer to be responsible for the design, analysis, simulation, test, and integration of high speed multimode and singlemode optical transceivers utilized in military and aerospace applications. Working alone or as part of a team, you will be a primary contributor to the analysis, conceptual design, development, and testing of high-speed (10Gbps+) optical transceivers.
 

Here’s what you’ll be working on day to day:

  • Working as part of a fast-paced multi-disciplinary engineering team to develop optical transceiver products.
  • Leading efforts for bring-up, performance optimization, and design verification testing of optical transceivers.
  • Being hands-on in every step of the design process such as creating conceptual designs, documenting designs, manufacturing and verify prototypes, testing and analysis of final designs.
  • Designing and developing of hardware schematics while assisting with PCB layouts and Bills of Materials.
  • Ensuring traceability between customer requirements and system requirements.
  • Represent Moog in a manner consistent with its leading-edge technical reputation.
     

    Basic Qualifications:
  • BS or MS degree in Electronics Engineering (or similar) plus five years of optical transceiver design/development engineering experience
  • 5 years of experience with optical transceiver test equipment (sampling scope, real-time scope, BERT, optical spectrum analyzers, I2C master devices)
  • Must have in-depth understanding of electrical engineering solutions to RF, power, noise, control, thermal and EMI design requirements.
  • A solid understanding of transceiver hardware, firmware, and software.
  • Proficiency in the use of Schematic Capture Software. Preferably Orcad Schematic Entry and Cadence Allegro PWB Layout. 
  • Demonstrated expertise and understanding of high speed, multilayer circuit boards design.
  • Must be willing to work in the office 5 days a week in the Johnson City, TN area
