Mechanical Analysis Engineer - FEA, College Grad

Would you like to grow your engineering career at a global aerospace company?  Are you an outside-the-box thinker with experience applying FEA?Moog has an opportunity for a Mechanical Analysis Engineer to join our Engineering team as a Finite Element Analysis Specialist.  In this role, you will work on process improvement efforts to automate work flow.  This position is located at our aerospace plant in Torrance, CA.

Here's what you’ll be working on…

  • Provide technical direction in the application of the finite element method to structural analysis
  • Develop in-house design and analysis tools that enable automation
  • Lead structural analysis on programs
  • Lead process improvement efforts to automate and integrate existing proprietary and commercial tools
  • Support design for manufacturing and lean activities to optimize designs for production
  • Troubleshoot production issues and lead investigations for qualification test anomalies
  • Create and review stress reports and gear drawings

Minimum qualifications to be considered… 

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Physics or Mathematics
  • 3+ years of experience analyzing components
  • 3+ years of experience applying FEA and numerical analysis (internship/coop experience will be considered)
  • Due to federal contract obligations, must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder)

Preferred Qualifications Include…

  • 5+ years of experience analyzing complex assemblies and components
  • Capability to develop original design methods and analysis tools to enable nonconventional designs
  • Experience with ANSYS, Python, and MATLAB
  • Advanced Degree in Engineering
  • Aerospace industry experience
  • Expertise in using ANSYS ACT to develop customization and automation functions
  • Strong mathematics and critical thinking skills
