Our Space & Defense Group is hiring for a Material Program Manager

The Material Program Manager (MPM) is the focal point for a cross-functional supply chain team responsible for the identification and contracting of custom manufactured materials and services satisfying Moog’s requirements for impeccable quality and delivery performance that meet or exceed our contractual commitments on a particular project.  The requirements for this position begin while the product is still in the design stages.  The MPM works with design and manufacturing engineering, supplier development engineering, planners, buyers, and customer facing program managers to facilitate supply chain solutions that meet the needs of all stakeholders.  This role requires knowledge of key commodity markets, contracting, and negotiations and excellent project management skills. The processes used to accomplish these tasks must be compliant with the documented systems and procedures. 

As a Material Program Manager, you can expect to…
  • Work closely with Program Managers and customers to create supply chain solutions which meet the needs of major defense prime contracts
  • Develop knowledge for key commodities that covers the market pricing, market make up, trends in the market, and alternative markets or technologies.
  • Present supply chain solutions and risk management activities to Moog’s customers during key reviews.
  • Establish Long Term Agreements (LTA) or pricing Agreements that meet the company objectives with regard to cost control and guaranteed supply.
  • Work with Master Planners on procurement needs, establishing blanket purchase orders, and vendor managed inventory (VMI).
  • Provide pricing information that will be used to support cost proposals being made to Moog customers.
  • Lead cross-functional teams on finding new sources, supplier selections and negotiations.
  • Engage in supplier development, including supplier evaluation, existing supplier management, and resolving sourcing issues.
  • Proactively work on process improvements across the procurement value stream.
  • Contribute to, and often lead cross-functional teams to improve processes and flow between engineering, supply chain, and assembly.
A successful candidate will have…
  • Bachelor of Science in a technical or business discipline with a minimum of six years’ experience; or a Master Degree in those same disciplines.
  • Certifications in Supply Chain, including APICS, or experience in Lean Management Systems is desired.
  • Advanced level of business acumen, including project management and team leadership.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, coupled with ability to listen, question and understand end users’ needs.
