Manufacturing Engineering Associate




Performs non‑routine work supporting manufacturing engineering and manufacturing to ensure process continuity. Working as part of a Manufacturing Engineering Group, the primary area of responsibility is supporting manufacturing engineers and manufacturing in resolving manufacturing issues, writing simple rework instructions, releasing pre-defined work instructions and work instruction/rework instruction approval, loading surface mount machines, operating reflow equipment utilizing defined profiles, assisting in acquiring tooling as directed by the Manufacturing Engineers and acting as informational liaison for tooling and cable orders.  May also be asked from time to time to assist with product builds.







This position reports to the Manufacturing Manager and takes technical direction from the Manufacturing Engineers.

Applies manufacturing knowledge to assist Manufacturing Engineers in resolving manufacturing issues.  He/She uses judgment in developing, adapting and modifying manufacturing engineering procedures and processes as directed by Manufacturing Engineers.


In pre‑production of a program, the Manufacturing Engineering Associate will support via Manufacturing Engineering Direction work instruction approvals, manufacturing procedure updates, tooling acquisition and may at times act as an informational liaison between Manufacturing Engineering and other internal MOOG departments.


The incumbent assists in providing electronic manufacturing support in solving problems and process issues as directed by Manufacturing Engineers. These problems may arise for any number of reasons such as tooling, SMT Line Processes and electronic assembly processes.  The solution of these problems may require inputs from Manufacturing Engineer's or could result in contacting and working with, Moog Product or Design Engineers, Quality Assurance personnel, M & P Engineers, Inspectors, Production supervision, Purchasing, Production Scheduling, or Moog vendors. As a result, the Manufacturing Engineer Associate must not only possess the human relations skills necessary to work effectively with a variety of people but must also have the initiative to contact and coordinate with other groups when a problem solution so requires.



The incumbent will be required to use computer systems in preparing rework instructions, releasing pre-defined work instructions, modifying procedures, operating SMT, solder reflow & ionograph equipment, support tooling designs and standards.



The background required to perform this position would include 2 years electronics manufacturing and cable harness build experience in accordance with J-STD-001 preferably as a Moog Senior Technician.





-Write simple rework instructions as directed by Manufacturing Engineerin



-Update date work instructions as directed by Manufacturing Engineering


-Release pre-defined work instructions


-Load and operate Surface Mount equipment utilizing pre-defined programs


-Operate reflow equipment utilizing predefined profiles.


-Periodically assist in operating the Ionograph.

-Provide assistance in performing routine machine maintenance when required 

-Act as informational liaison between MOOG, cable, and tooling vendors to ensure smooth transition of information and problem resolution

-Act as informational liaison between Manufacturing Engineering and Design Engineering to ensure smooth transition of information and problem resolution.

-Periodically assist in electronic and cable assembly builds.
