Job Summary:

Customer expectation continues to rise in the aerospace industry, what was accepted as good performance yesterday is today’s opportunity. In order to meet this expectation Moog AG Supply Chain is undergoing a period of transformation. Around 70% of Moog product is manufactured in the external supply chain, the purpose of this role is to drive improvement in supply chain performance through deployment of lean sigma methodologies.


Acting as a coach, mentor and partner to suppliers, the ME – Continuous Improvement will work as part of a cross functional team to lead and facilitate supplier improvement projects. Using a broad range of improvement tools the ME – Continuous Improvement shall analyze data and identify improvement opportunity then plan and drive execution of the improvement.


The Manufacturing Engineer – Continuous Improvement will report to the Global Manufacturing Engineering Manager or a Regional MEM, and shall work in a cross functional team environment.

The successful candidate will have a background working with lean sigma tools and ideally hold an accredited green or black belt qualification.  The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships within Moog and at all levels within our supply chain partners is essential as is the ability to drive change. The Manufacturing Engineer – Continuous Improvement shall have excellent influencing skills and have a proven track record of improving performance in a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be an accomplished practitioner in continuous improvement and a subject matter expert in many improvement techniques.


Responsibilities:
  • Analyze supplier performance data and identify improvement opportunity.
  • Use lean sigma methodologies to implement improvement projects to address opportunity.
  • Train and coach suppliers on lean sigma tools.
  • Drive open issues at suppliers to resolution using appropriate problem-solving tools
  • Schedule and conduct Governance reviews with Supplier leadership
Basic Qualifications:


The background required to perform this position would include a B.S. Degree (ME or IE preferred) and a minimum of 3 years manufacturing engineering experience.  Additional seasoned experience in manufacturing engineering that would be equivalent to what is learned in a degreed program would be an acceptable alternative to the B. S. Degree requirement.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Accomplished in the use of lean sigma improvement tools (i.e. DMAIC)
  • Ideally Black Belt accredited
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work in cross functional teams to tight deadlines and often under pressure.
  • Previous experience of working with suppliers
  • Customer focused
  • Degree in a relevant discipline (engineering / manufacturing/ business based)
  • High degree of numeracy and knowledge of statistical techniques is a must
  • Ability to use Minitab
  • Flexible and prepared to travel on a frequent basis
  • Knowledge of aerospace industry standards and regulations advantageous but not necessary
