Lead Embedded Design Engineer

Here is what you can expect in this role:

We’re looking for an ambitious, responsible team-player to design and develop Embedded Electronics for Slip Ring products and associated interface software. As a Senior Engineer you will be responsible for design projects to include defining project scope, development and testing. Activities encompass design, analysis, testing and process development using engineering principles and methods. Technical integrated circuits; and embedded software/firmware design. You will be involved in specification development and review and actively participate in software/ firmware design. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical or computer engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Embedded Systems Engineer
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a development team lead or supervisor (In this role you will lead a small team of software/embedded engineers)
  • To be proficient in C/C++ and VHDL/Verilog languages and validation tools
  • Experience with source control tools (We currently use Git)
  • Ability to work with hardware engineers to specify and develop embedded products
  • Good organizational, analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to articulate and present ideas internally/externally
  • Access to export controlled information is required

Here are the preferred skills and experience we are looking for:

  • Experience in developing with Texas Instruments DSP's.
  • Knowledge of Xilinx/Altera FPGAs
  • Experience in developing with Xilinx/Altera tools
  • Experience with communication interfaces such as RS232, RS422, SMPTE, CAN bus, TCP/IP, UDP and/or GPIB
  • Ability to perform Critical Timing analyses for High-speed digital logic circuit designs
  • Experience with Motion Control or power converter algorithms and control methodology.
  • Experience in design of multi-Gigabit communications interfaces 
  • Experience with programming graphical user interfaces
  • Hands on Hardware Experience preferred.
  • Hardware circuits including DACs, ADCs, microprocessors, memories, DSPs, linear and switching voltage regulators
  • Cadence Schematic and PCB design software experience preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of I2C and SPI Bus Protocol and implementation.
  • Design team member in an ISO9OO1 environment.
  • Achieve defined project goals / milestones within tight project schedules.
  • Extensive Knowledge of TCP/IP stacks and protocols a plus.
  • Knowledge of VBA and/or SQL a plus.
  • Operating general lab equipment (DMM, oscilloscope, logic & bus analysers, device programmers)
  • Technical documentation development
