Our Space & Defense Group is in need of a detail-oriented, Quality Manufacturing Inspector...


What your day to day will look like... 


  • Perform a wide variety of mechanical/visual inspections on incoming purchased parts and/or assemblies, in-process and finished parts, first article inspections on machined parts in-house and/or at vendor facilities, when required.
  • Work from approved inspection plans, engineering drawings, purchase orders, operation sheets and specifications
  • Use a variety of precision measuring instruments to verify compliance on dimensions, angles, radii, contours, holes, surface finishes, concentricity, hardness, material and plating
  • Work involves simple to complex setups on surface plates using height gauge, gauge blocks, sine plates and indicators
  • Maintain daily logs and initiate non-conforming documentation for parts not meeting requirements.
  • Record applicable information into Inspection History and other business databases.
  • This position requires the incumbent to utilize innovative methods and techniques to facilitate process reconfigurations. To accomplish this, the incumbent must be fully aware of process qualification techniques and maintain a working knowledge of procedures and process improvement projects in the department to insure optimum quality
  • The incumbent should have an ability to operate and create small programs on the CMM. A strong preference for applicants with knowledge of PC-DMIS. 
  • The incumbent is a link between Machine Shop, Quality and various other Engineering functions throughout the problem-solving process. As such, he/she must demonstrate willingness to assist in order to find a positive problem resolution. He/She must maintain a high level of integrity.   

Skills & Requirements…

·         Inspections include receiving inspection, first piece inspection, final inspection, process evaluation of defective hardware and process evaluation of new program conversions.

·         In order to accomplish these functions, a wide variety of inspection techniques and skills are necessary that include but are not limited to:

o    Geometric dimensioning & tolerancing

o    Advanced blueprint reading


·         The incumbent must assist machinists in the usage, calibration and care of    

    inspection equipment, interpretation of blueprints and other quality related   


·         Personal computer (excel, word) knowledge is required. 

The skills & experience you'll need to bring with you... 


- A two-year technical degree with 3 years quality inspection experience preferred or 6 years quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment. 

CMM experience strongly preferred.
