Global IT Security Engineer – Level II

Job Summary:

The Global IT Security Engineer’s role is to ensure the secure operation of the in-house computer systems, servers, and network connections. This includes checking server and firewall logs, scrutinizing network traffic, establishing and updating virus scans, and troubleshooting. This person will also analyze and resolve security incidents and vulnerability issues in a timely and accurate fashion, and conduct user activity audits where required.


Responsibilities:
  • Incident Response and Security Assessment & Authorization processes as well as the day-to-day administration and change management of the core Information Security Technology Stack.
  • Continuous monitoring of the Security Operations Center and responding to security incidents as they arise as directed by the Security Operations Manager.
  • The application of configuration changes and management of the life cycle of the systems including software and hardware upgrade projects as directed by the Security Operations Manager through a change management process.
  • Produce quality documentation, adherence to standards and policy, and identify issues proactively.

Operational Management

  • Security Incident Response
  • Security Assessment Authorization process.
  • Deploy, manage and maintain all security systems and their corresponding or associated software, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, cryptography systems, and anti-virus software.
  • Administer and maintain user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Manage connection security for local area networks, the company Web site, the company intranet, and e-mail communications.
  • Manage and ensure the security of databases and data transferred both internally and externally.
  • Design, perform, and/or oversee vulnerability assessment and penetration testing of all systems in order to identify system vulnerabilities.
  • Design, implement, and report on security system and end user activity audits.
  • Monitor server logs, firewall logs, intrusion detection logs, and network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity. Interpret activity and make recommendations for resolution.
  • Recommend, schedule (where appropriate), and apply fixes, security patches, disaster recovery procedures, and any other measures required in the event of a security breach.
  • Download and test new security software and/or technologies.
  • Provide guidance to junior members of the team.

The successful Global IT Security Engineer will become highly proficient with the Security Technology Stack in use at Moog and will be required to undertake periodic training and certification with these technologies in order to demonstrate their level of proficiency.

The successful candidate shall support the Security Operations Manager by providing mentorship to other IT Operations team members.

 
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related field, or an equivalent number of years of related work experience
  • Over three years’ experience in Security, with over five years working in an IT administration, or service desk, role
  • Minimum of a Security+ or CEH certification, plus or more of the following certifications:
  • GIAC Security Essentials Certification
  • GIAC Security Leadership Certification
  • ISACA Certified Information Security Manager
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer: Security
  • (ISC)2 SCCP
  • (ISC)2 CISSP
  • (ISC)2 ISSAP
  • ITIL
  • Experience designing and delivering employee security awareness training
  • Experience in enterprise security architecture design and document creation
  • Experience in two or more of the following security systems:
  • Trend Micro Deep Security/Office Scan
  • PaloAlto
  • Checkpoint
  • Nexpose
  • Proofpoint
  • LogRhythm
  • Cybereason
  • Working technical knowledge of End Point Protection, SIEM, Firewalls, Phishing Awareness Training, Penetration Testing, Managed Security Service Providers
  • Strong understanding of IP, TCP/IP, and other network administration protocols
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Linux, OSX, iOS, VMware
  • Understanding of SQL, IlS, Apache
