Moog Inc. has an opportunity for a Quality Assurance Engineer on 1st shift at our Murphy, NC location.

Job Summary:

The Quality Engineer is a professional who understands the principles of product and service quality evaluation and control. This body of knowledge and applied technologies include, but are not limited to, development and operation of quality control systems, application and analysis of testing and inspection procedures, the ability to use metrology and statistical methods to diagnose and correct improper quality control practices, an understanding of human factors and motivation, facility with quality cost concepts and techniques, and the knowledge and ability to develop and administer management information systems and to audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.




  • Assist in establishing, maintaining, and improving a structured/documented Quality Assurance System.

  • Explain and interpret MCG requirements and/or specifications to manufacturing and quality personnel.

  • Establish and implement adequate gauging, measurement, and testing techniques.

  • Work within the MRB to determine the disposition of suspect/rejected material.

  • Serve as the Quality contact for customers.

  • Practice quality disciplines and use of statistical technique such as problem solving, Root Cause Analysis, APQP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC, etc.

  • Work on Continuous Improvement projects using Six Sigma techniques.

  • Perform internal quality system and process audits to ensure adherence to quality standards and processes.

  • Maintain QMS databases, perform trend analysis, and submit reports as assigned.

  • Help design and implement product test, measurement, and verification methods.

  • Perform and submit First Article and other inspection reports.

  • Ability to concurrently handle multiple project assignments and ability to lead as well as participate on cross-functional project teams.

  • Execute the responsibilities of a Moog employee according to lawful and ethical standards, as referenced in the Mood employee handbook.

  • Perform other Quality related duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Two (2) year technical degree in a related field or two (2) years relevant work experience in quality related

  • 2-year technical college education in a related field

  • 1-3 years of quality related work experience in a manufacturing environment

  • ASQ Quality Engineer or be able to obtain within 2 years


Preferred Requirements:


  • 4-year technical degree in a related field

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer

  • ASQ Certified Quality Auditor

  • ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt

  • 5 years of related work experience in the manufacturing and quality fields



Qualified internal candidates will have first preference for consideration for this position.

Due to the training time required, the person selected for this job will have to remain in the position for a period of one year before becoming eligible to bid on other jobs within the facility.
