As an Electronics Project Engineer, in our Aircraft Group (AG), you’ll provide Program Engineering support for new products and systems transferring into production from development.

 

Primary responsibilities of the Project Engineer are: effect a smooth product transfer from development into the production, develop the design into a mature producible product, support production assembly/test start up and maintain integrity of the product design. After transfer from Development Engineering, the Project Engineer has full design responsibility for the Product.

 

Here's what you’ll work on day to day:

  • Project leader for the development of complex flight control computers and motor control electronics for military and commercial aviation
  • Lead group of engineers (mechanical, SW, digital, analog, power, etc.) towards project objectives
  • Develop a thorough understanding of all design principles associated with assigned products
  • Contribute to proposals for new aircraft platforms in accordance with customer requirements
  • Develop/manage project plans derived from proposals and customer contracts
  • Create and maintain project schedule for electronics scope within overall program by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
  • Manage NRE and EV metrics within electronics scope
  • Regulate project scope and prepare BCRs as appropriate to account for out of scope activities
  • Mange project risk and create/execute risk mitigation strategies
  • Report project status to site, program and technical leadership
  • Work with departments outside of design engineering (quality, purchasing, manufacturing, tooling, test equipment, etc.) for product launch in manufacturing
  • After production launch, maintain product design integrity by initiating, evaluating, and preparing product design changes
  • Organize, coordinate, expedite Moog material and personnel resources for solution of identified problems
  • Provide product design support and guidance as requested/required to other Moog operating departments by providing timely information to all effected operating groups regarding potential problem with schedule, cost and quality
  • Function as the customer/vendor contact for all technical questions
  • Maintain close contact with Moog Sales and Program Management to insure "no surprises" when talking to their customers
  • Travel to customer/vendor facilities, as required, for solution of mutual problems
  • Prepare and issue Engineering Reports
  • Prepare and present customer presentations

At a minimum, you will need to meet these qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or other engineering discipline ; Master’s preferred
  • At least 8 years’ of relevant experience
  • Converting a very general definition of goals and objectives into well-defined tasks and schedule
  • Strong communication skills and must be a self-starter
  • The position requires a moderate amount of domestic travel (4-6 times per year)
