As an Electronics Business Development Engineer, located in East Aurora, NY at Moog’s Aircraft Group (AG), you’ll have responsibility for new business pursuit and capture opportunities for non-OEM, Aftermarket Programs, with a focus on Aftermarket growth. You’ll work with our Aircraft Military Aftermarket Sector teams, located in East Aurora, NY and Torrance, CA, Moog Business Unit Managers, to build relationships with DoD customer(s), and utilize those relationships to identify opportunities for new business in the areas of a) reverse engineering, b) modifications, and c) upgrades, to 1) aging Aircraft Systems and 2) Repair and Overhaul (R&O) of non-OEM products.

 
Here’s what you’ll work on day-to-day:
 
  • High level of customer intimacy to enable Moog to take maximum advantage of new business/growth opportunities
  • Coordination of the market strategy and identifying markets and opportunities for new Sustaining Engineering programs
  • Develop working relationships with customer’s technical staff involved in non-OEM R&O, product upgrades, obsolescence management and reverse engineering decisions and program execution
  • Serve as a technical lead for proposal efforts and function as program technical lead after contract award and up to the point of production transition
    • Including, but not limited to, the following:
      • Opportunity planning
      • Opportunity identification and pursuit
      • Gated process review
      • Technical liaison with the customer
      • Business Case supporting Bid/No bid decision
      • Pre-RFP Planning
      • Proposal content
      • Support estimates of recurring and non-recurring costs.
      • Statement of Work
      • Key program milestones
      • Lead product development efforts
      • Support Test Equipment Development
      • Approve A&T processes / documentation
      • Assist Supply Chain with Parts Sourcing decisions
  • Monitor opportunities for participating in funded programs
  • Participate in management and resolution of major issues affecting the relationship with the customer and co-ordinate with Group Engineering management to forecast and assign resources in the support of new business opportunities
  • Maintain status on Competitors products, services technology and strategy related to the aftermarket customer
 
Here’s what you’ll bring with you:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Engineering (Electronics strongly preferred)
  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in the field of Engineering / Operations
  • Proven leadership capabilities and ability to develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the market place for the designated product line
  • Excellent Technical / Engineering knowledge with depth in Electronics
  • Customer focus and proven ability to interface with customer’s technical procurement and program staff
  • Strong human relationship skills are required in developing effective working relationships both externally and internally
 

Due to the nature of supporting US Government Contracts and Programs, the Electronics Business Development Engineer must be a US National with ability to work on classified programs.

 

The position requires travel, up to 50% of time over any given month.
