Moog’s Space and Defense Group has recently been awarded several cryogenic valves to be used in liquid fuel, cryogenic rocket applications.  In addition, there are several new opportunities for fluid control devices in support of the Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS).  These exciting development projects will expand Moog’s platform of fluid control devices to support launch and exploration vehicles.  Currently, based on this growth, the Space and Defense sector is seeking a Contamination Control Engineer to add to their team!  The primary responsibility of this position is to insure that cost-effective contamination control activities are in place to support of the shipments of flight critical hardware. The CE group provides integrated, unified, consistent direction on all contamination control activities at the site level with respect to the activities that are occurring in the Manufacturing and Assembly and Test areas. The main focus of this position will be supporting the requirements of those areas where new or more stringent contamination criteria are being utilized. The position requires the incumbent to work as a team member and work seamlessly across all operating functions including Assembly and Test, Project and Product Engineering, Quality Engineering, Methods Engineering, Facilities, and Materials and Process Engineering.


Here is an idea of what you'll be accountable for:

  • Provide leadership and ownership on all issues of contamination control at a site level.  Verification to contractual requirements and industry standards will be conducted in accordance with checklists established by the incumbent. Assessment of the results of these verifications will be the incumbent's responsibility.
  • Provide guidance and process directions to Assembly & Test and Engineering personnel on issues related to contamination control.
  • Provide support for process improvements and recommend cost-effective process reliability improvements.
  • Represent Moog at customers and suppliers as the Site expert in the contamination control field.
  • Provide support for proposals, fact-findings and program execution to ensure that contamination / FOD related requirements are addressed.
  • Support or lead when appropriate, internal or external failure investigations and audits related to contamination / FOD. In this capacity, the individual will have the responsibility of understanding the needs, focusing the problems, developing solutions, arriving at consensus, providing recommendations, assisting in the implementation effort and addressing the effectiveness of the implementation process solutions.
  • Instruct and maintain contamination control training programs.
  • Provide consultation in the field of contamination / FOD control for other Sites to ensure a consistent approach.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering and a minimum of three years of experience in the contamination control field is required.
  • A suitable alternative is an Associate’s Degree in an appropriate field of technology (such as Engineering, Materials Science, and Chemistry) with a minimum of six years of experience that has gained the candidate the ability to execute cognitive Engineering tasks. He/she must have a formally trained or practically obtained working knowledge of Engineering.
  • Related job experience should have as a minimum demonstrated exceptional performance as Project or Product Engineering Technician, and or working directly in the contamination control field.
  • Proven specific capabilities in Clean Room technology, methods, operating and design criteria, as well as manufacturing and component part cleaning is essential. 
  • Interpersonal skills - work well in a collaborative team environment, provide strong leadership in a matrix-type position and is expected to develop unique solutions to product and process problems.
