Here's what you’ll be working on:

  • Set-up the machines for specified jobs per instructions in the job routing and blueprints.
  • Qualification and inspection of first piece
  • Inspecting and documenting features per instructions.
  • Inspection of parts visually and using various measurement tools such as height gauges and Vernier Calipers, micrometers, roll check, measurement over wires.
  • Handling of piece parts ranging in weight from 1lb. to 25 lbs.
  • Perform accessory operations like deburring and cleaning of parts using various hand and power tools such as a belt sander or drill press.
  • Assist in other departments as required.
  • Ability to learn how to set up and operate CNC lathes as required.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the shop supervisor.
  • Follow all company procedures and instructions.
  • Most tasks require good hand/eye coordination and the full range motion of both hands and arms on a regular and repetitive basis.

At a minimum, you need to meet these Basic Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years of Gear Machining experience
  • Due to federal contract obligations, must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder)

Preferred Qualifications Include: 

  • Experience in gear cutting operations like Hobbing, Shaping, Shaving, Straight and Spiral Bevel gear cutting/generation, Gear lapping, Gear Grinding etc.
  • Experience with relevant machines: Gleason 125GH, P400 – series Phoenix, Fellows Shaper model # 20-4 and 10-2. FS400, Gleason GP200, Mikron
  • Prior gear cutting experience is a big plus
  • Demonstrated ability to read basic blueprints and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and plan daily work assignments in a self-directed changing environment.
  • Knowledge of basic shop math.
  • Ability to use measuring tools like height gauges, micrometers, dial indicators, Vernier calipers etc.
  • Understanding of metal-cutting applications and general machining practices.
  • High level of attention to detail and strong work ethic.
