Actuation Development Engineering Manager (Aircraft Group)

 

Moog’s Aircraft Group (AG) has been offering Superior Engineering and Advanced Technologies to the Commercial and Military Aircraft Market for over six decades. Bill Moog’s invention enabled the technology for Fly-by-Wire flight controls used in today’s modern aircraft. Today Moog offers integrated flight control solutions, actuation control systems, and product based solutions for much of the commercial and military aircraft market, both here in the US and Globally.  We are actively working a number of high profile development programs and have recently been selected as the flight control lead system integrator for several new programs. As a result, we are looking for highly motivated and talented engineers who thrive on challenge and enjoy working on cutting-edge applications.

 

Moog Engineering Managers are challenged with…

  • Meeting demanding hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical actuation performance requirements
  • Managing designs of safety critical aviation actuation hardware throughout the development lifecycle  
  • Delivering high reliability designs for harsh aviation environments  

Currently, Moog’s Aircraft Group in our East Aurora, New York office, is seeking to add to their team an Actuation Development Engineering Manager to lead the Actuation Design/Development Engineering Team. At a quick glance, you will:

  • Will have direct reports including Design Engineers, Project Engineers, Stress/Analysis Engineers, and Test Engineers.
  • Organize, allocate, direct, and motivate the resources of this group to provide high quality engineering work which is consistent with the company’s objectives
  • Will be responsible for resource management, technical execution, cost performance, and schedule performance for actuation development programs
You can expect to…
  • Lead and manage the technology development of a multi-disciplinary engineering staff matrixed across concurrent development programs
  • Manage a collaborative innovation environment to challenging development objectives
  • Perform a variety of direct employee management and supervisory functions including hiring, training, allocating resources, supervision, and growing highly skilled technical personnel through on-going performance and development reviews
  • Analyze team performance and communicate design process performance using EVMS methods
  • Identify strategic and budgetary control opportunities relating to engineering estimates, development lifecycle performance, and outstanding development risk to schedule and cost performance
  • Lead design engineering process development though maturation of process standards, templates, specifications, and automation to increase the design process consistency, replicability, and efficiency

To be considered for this position you’ll need the following…

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering; with at least 10 years of related engineering experience
  • Master of Science degree reduces the required experience to 8 years minimum
  • Strong leadership
  • Self-starter willing to make sound decisions and initiate action without prior counseling or direction
  • Possess the technical knowledge and the personal integrity required to earn the respect of subordinates
  • Must have the interpersonal skills to communicate at all levels within Moog and at the customer/vendor level
  • Ability to travel domestic and/or international – Approximately 10%
  • Ability to relocate to East Aurora, NY
